Squash Volleys their Way through the Season

by Patteson Branch '25
The Varsity Squash Team has shown great success this year in challenging circumstances following the departure of the top five players and assistant coach from the roster last year. An impressive final record of 10-3 and a fifth place place in their division with wins over the third and first seed and the bracket yielded an impressive ending for a team seeded to finish fourteenth in the US Squash High School Nationals Division IV. With a winning record against every other time in the Mid Atlantic Squash Organization (which has the likes of Woodberry Forest School, St. Anne’s Belfield, Episcopal High School and Potomac School as members), the squash team only fell short in the long term against a Division II opponent in Mercersburg Academy. The squad also took home a second-place trophy and ranking in the MASO tournament and conference as a whole. Seniors to depart this year include captains Arthur Newman ’24 and Captain Worrell ’24 as well as other contributing members Berkeley Edmonds ’24 and Anderson Gates ’24. The future is only brighter as talks circulate about the potential for courts to be built here on campus and the program looks to regain entry into the ever-competitive Division III hosted at UPenn next February.
